Aguinid Falls in Samboan, Cebu

Aguinid Falls in Samboan, Cebu
It was Sunday morning right after we had breakfast at Fantasy Lodge when we went off to go to Samboan's pride — the Aguinid Falls. Public transportation was quite rare around the area but luckily we saw a Ceres bus so we hailed it and rode. We told the driver to drop us off at Aguinid Falls and paid Php 10 each.

Me and my work batchmates. Photo taken at Level 1.
We walked for around five minutes or so to the registration site. When we arrived there, we paid the entrance fee for Php 20 each. Each group will be provided with two guides. As far as I know, there's no fixed "guide fee" and it's up to the group how much they will pay each guide. In our case, we paid them Php 100 each. After everything was taken care of at the registration site, we proceeded to the orientation spot. Aguinid Falls has five levels or tiers but there is a sixth one for those who are up for an extreme adventure. Of course, we did not take that risk. Haha.

The ascent from Level 2 to Level 3 was quite difficult for me. This is where we had to climb up with only the man-made footholds to step on and a rope to hold on to as we come across the strong current of flowing water.

Level 4
Level 4 is where the fun is. This level has a tiny pool and a jump off cliff. I haven't tried Canyoneering yet and never have I tried jumping off but that time was the first time that I braved myself. I'm not an expert swimmer but I'm quite confident with my swimming skills in enclosed pools. So technically, the beach is not for me. Anyway, I'm not sure how high the cliff was but it was pretty much a huge milestone for me. Watch the video at the end of this post to see it. *wink*

This is the Level 5 of Aguinid Falls. We were greeted with a hug boulder with a stunning waterfall view. The pool of water here is not deep compared to Level 4 but you can find two separate pools of water (second pool is the photo above) where you can also find those kinds of fish that eats dead skin for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Haha. Amazing how you can experience a fish spa for free! We spent a few minutes at the last level and then started our descent. If the ascent from Level 2 to Level 3 was difficult, I'm warning you, the descent from Level 3 to Level 2 is even harder! You'll have to rappel your way down since of course it's much more dangerous when you step down as if walking down the stairs.

Anyway, that experience at Aguinid Falls was definitely amazing. It was just sad we had to spend a little time since we needed to check out at Fantasy Lodge at 11AM. We rode a tricycle back to Fantasy Lodge and paid Php 10 each. I went home that day with memories to keep and I'm hoping to see more waterfalls in Cebu soon!

  1. My goodness, the view is very stunning! The water look likes silk! I will definitely include this in my travel bucket list, although I think I need to condition myself first. Haha. It is definitely worth the hardship!

  3. We were supposed to do this last time but our guide texted us late so we have to pass. It looks so adventurous lalo na yung rappel part. Never tried that before kahit sa Canyoneering. haha! And so brave of you to jump. Nung first time ko sobrang takot ko tumalon kasi baka di ako makaswim dahil sa panic ko sa pagtalon. haha! :)
