Mommy Diaries: How I Spent Mother's Day

Mommy Diaries: How I Spent Mother's Day
They say that being a mother is the epicenter of a woman's power. And I have to agree with that. From carrying a child in your womb, to giving birth with excruciating pain, to raising that child well; it all takes loads of patience, sacrifices, and of course, unconditional love. Being a mother at a young age is honestly very hard for me. It's one hell of a roller coaster ride but it's just all worth it. And last Sunday, as we all know, Mother's Day was celebrated worldwide. I'm not really the kind of person who celebrates special events but I thought that day has to be an exception. Zayn and I had our very first movie date together and we were both so happy!

SUPER MOMMIES MOVIE DAY-OUT was specially organized by Oakridge Business Park to pay tribute to mothers of kids with special needs including kids with cancer, autism, and wheelchair-dependent kids, among others with physical disabilities, for them to bond over movie. The event aimed to celebrate the strength, perseverance, and ingenuity of the mothers for having raised these children.

And through Toni Pino-Oca, I was invited by Miss Malou Mozo to witness this heartwarming event. I know how it hard it is to raise a normal child and I can imagine how much harder it is for the mothers to raise their kids who require special and meticulous attention. I salute you, my fellow mothers!

Zayn and I arrived at the Oakridge Pavilion just moments before the event started. We were warmly welcomed by Miss Malou and the other organizers. The setup was perfect for the movie date and we sat on one of the mats. Zayn was telling me over and over how happy he was for bringing him into the event. Oh my dear boy, hopefully there will be more Mommy and Kid events for us to attend.

The movie date was accompanied with free-flowing food such as pizza, popcorn, hotdogs, french fries, and refreshments. We watched the movie Brave, which perfectly fits for Mother's Day. Though Zayn did not focus on the movie, he enjoyed cuddling with me and playing with his new-found friends, Drake and Shin.

After the movie, there was a short game with prizes and then the emotional part came. Each of the mothers were given balloons and flowers while the song "Thanks To You" was playing in the background and it left me teary-eyed. I kept hugging, kissing, and telling Zayn how much I love him. Despite his super duper bad tantrums, I will never ever trade him for anything.

Together with my fellow mommies, Lyssa and Kedz, we celebrated a wonderful Mother's Day at the Oakridge Pavilion in Oakridge Business Park with our kids. And coincidentally, we three have baby boys! Haha.

P.S. Thank you, Miss Malou Mozo and Oakridge Business Park for the letting us spend our special day with you! <3
